What does Google Lens mean for business owners?

Changes to SEO are coming! As computer technology morphs, SEO morphs with it. As more and more people use Google Assistant and Siri to search for things that translate into needing to keep up with these changes in the content on our website.

One technique currently used in SEO is using ALT (Alternative Text) tagging for the images and videos we place on our websites. Using a specific keyword is extremely important since Google crawlers cannot understand an image. It understands text. Perhaps in the future, ALT tagging will no longer be needed.

While we cannot say exactly what these changes will be or how they will be implemented, we know that technology has just taken a step forward once again.

Just think about it. 10 years ago, web sites and web pages were vastly text based with limited pictures. Over the last few years (and as we have been able to step from dial-up to fiber optics), text has been reduced while images have increased. Today, videos are replacing text and images. Through all of this change, SEO has changed because content is (and always will be) king! If Google thinks your content is relevant to its consumers then you rank high.

We look forward to seeing the development of Google Lens and what Apple does to keep up!
