Next in the Marketplace timeline was August 2017. Facebook announced that it would be releasing the feature to 17 countries across Europe. This would expand the coverage of Marketplace.
October 26, 2017, Facebook announced that they are adding more options for US car shoppers! Currently, users are free to list cars on Facebook Marketplace. Facebook stated that cars and trucks is the most popular category on Marketplace by far. Due to this, they have decided to allow car dealerships the ability to integrate their inventory with Facebook Marketplace!
New Facebook Marketplace Features Include:
- Users will be able to browse inventory from auto dealers via partnerships with Edmunds, cars.com, Auction123, CDK Global and SOCIALDEALER.
- Facebook has also enhanced its vehicle section and filtering options including year, make, model, mileage, vehicle type and transmission. Car buyers will be able to narrow down exactly what they are looking for.
- Facebook has partnered with Kelley Blue Book and one great feature will be showing trusted car values for vehicles. This will make it much easier for buyers to make sure they’re getting a good deal.
- Users will be able to communicate directly with dealership representatives via Messanger and powered chat through providers like CarCode, Contact At Once!, ActivEngage and Gubagoo.

Foremost will be the impact on new and used car dealers. Since Facebook acknowledged in their announcement that cars and trucks are their most popular category, it makes sense that the first improvement to Marketplace features will be to vehicles.
